Women in World War II
The workbook is a unique and in-depth multicultural study of the role that women played in World War II as well as the challenges that they faced in attempting to serve their country. Included in the workbook is a vast array of primary and secondary sources that allow students to investigate the experiences of women from a variety of backgrounds. The workbook explores subjects that are often omitted in high school and middle school courses, such as the treatment of women by the government after World War II, the experiences of Black, Native, Asian, and Latina women, and the obstacles women faced in attaining veterans benefits under the GI Bill after World War II. Transcriptions of video interviews from the Digital Collection of the National WWII Museum have been reprinted with permission.
